Born on a lucky day, to some lucky people in New York. I'm New World meets Old World, and North meets South. A transplanted New Yorker who lives in DC. Heritage wise, my mother is Puerto Rican which as you know involves Africans, Spaniard, and Native American. Not to mention, probably some others cultures. My father, God rest his soul was Black, with probably a few others flavors mixed in to the mix. If I'm like a well flavored cake, my children are more similar to a beef stew.

Fine, detailed and subtle animated artwork created by New York illustrator Rebecca Mock. Apparently the animated gif back to stay, gradually more and more people are exploring this old format and customers asking for shouting. Several of these illustrations were created for the New York Times or The Warlus magazine.

Beautiful gif art. <3

While researching Kelefa Sanneh’s article about Dapper Dan, which ran in The New Yorkers recent Style Issue, we looked at the work of many photographers who covered the eighties hip-hop scene. One of them, Janette Beckman, recently returned from Caracas, where she photographed the hip-hop community at a school that teaches a new kind of break dance and music called Tuki, which mixes street styles, pop culture, house, and techno.

Tuki is taught at Tiuna el Fuerte, a cultural center built from old shipping containers and covered in graffiti, in the El Valle barrio. There is a recording studio, an underground performance space, and hip-hop and break-dancing workshops. It’s funded by the Chávez government, and is run by the rap artists Apache, a.k.a. Cultur MC, and Piky.

Wow, HipHop Style is timeless and retro-fitted to this era.

Pope washes feet of young detainees in Holy Thursday ritual

NBC News: Pope Francis washed the feet of of a dozen young inmates in a juvenile detention center as part of Holy Thursday.

The group of 12 young people who had their feet washed and kissed by the pope included two young women - the first time a pontiff included females in the rite. The ceremony has traditionally been limited to men, since all of Jesus’ apostles were men. The young people were aged between 16 and 21 and chosen from different nationalities and religious backgrounds. The Vatican spokesman said two of the 12 whose feet were washed were Muslim inmates.

In the past, Francis’ predecessors washed the feet of priests in the Basilica of St. John in Lateran.

Pope Francis appears to be a man of the ppl. A humble shepherds who will lead the sheep to better days. May he have wisdom and be as beloved as JP II.
